Lost City, Litchfield

Instead we went to the Lost City, which is an area of rock formations that look like it could have been a city a long time past. The area was once part of a sandstone layer that topped what is now called the Tabletop Range. Ok some areas need more imagination that others but in some places I could almost see a old city with people going about their days. I could almost see statues and what could have been houses. All abandoned to the bush to claim back.

An interesting thing with the sandstone rock on the Tabletop Range is that it is like a sponge. It will soak up the heavy rains in the wet season then slowly release it over the dry season. It is one of the reason you will see trees and bushes growing out of the rocks and all the water falls.
